Sarah’s Wedding – December 29th

Here it is, the post you have all been waiting for – Sarah’s wedding!

Now I apologise in advance for the quality of the photos, I took them, and I could have done with a bigger flash on some of them, but I hope you enjoy them anyway.

The venue – Stanbrook Abbey – was stunning, and the staff really were very accommodating and lovely, they had no problems dealing with even the trickiest of guests (yes, I was the awkward gluten-free vegetarian…) and the chapel, the piano room and the dining room were all lovely.

Happy New Year from all at Ivory & co.!

Is it really 2013 already?!

Time is flying by, apologies for the lack of blogging over the festive season. But now we are back and will be blogging all the latest news.

Sarah’s wedding went beautifully, (despite the candy cane drama, oops, mentioned it again!) and I will be posting some pictures soon so you can see her gorgeous dresses (her own designs, of course, and yes, she wore two! Well, why not?)

We all had good Christmasses, though Sarah’s was hectic with wedding preparations and visiting relatives – she made Christmas dinner for 16! Personally, I went to the pub for a quiet drink on Christmas day, then had dinner cooked for me. (I’m spoilt, I know.)

It’s been a very busy week, as we are preparing the dresses to go out to the shops! We’re very excited for everyone to see them, they are incredibly beautiful! We will be sending them out in the next week or two, and we are busy updating the dress website so that you can see where your nearest stockist is, and all the beautiful designs that Sarah has created.

I think that’s all the updates for now, check back for photos of Sarah’s wedding, and the Boutique of the Week.

Happy New Year!

Christmas at Ivory & co!

Here at Ivory & co. it’s been a hive of activity, and Sarah has been frantically getting everything ready for her wedding, which is in just ten days time!  (We won’t mention the candy cane fiasco ever again! Oops, just did!)

2012 has been the most incredible year for Ivory & co., surpassing all expectations. The launch of the new Bridalwear collection has been an exciting experience, and we all can’t wait to see the designs in the shops in Spring 2013. Sarah has been busy designing a few more pieces, which will be showcased at the White Gallery in May.

There may be big changes in 2013, with a possible change of premises – the company is growing and we need a bigger space! The new place would feature a beautiful showroom where brides can visit us to try on dresses and headwear in comfort and style!

We will be at all of the major shows, which begin at the end of January and continue through to March. The Bridalwear collection will be featured on the catwalk shows at the NEC and Olympia, which we’re all very excited about. Watch this space for videos!

After working tirelessly for the last twelve months, we rounded off the year with the Christmas Party, held at a cosy pub in the country, where we had a very noisy meal (felt sorry for the other diners, oops!) and then an even noisier night singing Karaoke… here’s just a few of pictures, taken on my phone.

The Most Fabulous Wedding Shoes!

The countdown is on to my wedding just after Christmas – and with only 24 days to go parcels are arriving of the treasured items I have been waiting for.

Today my wedding shoes have arrived and they are just gorgeous.  They have been made by Rachel Simpson shoes who make in my opinion the best wedding shoes available.

As well as being beautiful and chic they are also so comfortable (padded in the sole). For any brides out there who have not yet chosen shoes for their big day I would definitely recommend a visit to the Rachel Simpson showroom in Birmingham – or visit their website; they are such a helpful company and they have shoes to match any wedding dress.

So good luck looking for shoes as perfect as the ones that have arrived here with me today (my style is called Marilyn)…

Designing my wedding dress!

Today has been a great day looking through my favourite fabric samples to select the perfect ones for my own wedding dress!

Over the years I have designed so many things to make wedding days special for brides all over the world from tiaras to jewellery, veils and wedding dresses – but now if feels different designing my own.

The fabric samples today have been easy to choose from – I love natural fabrics of silks and silk satins – and I have finally made some last minute alterations to the design of my dress.  It’s tempting to create with so many different types of styling as I am influenced by various design themes – but I found my way through to focusing on what are the most important aspects of my dress.

To see some of the design influences that I usually design with – see the pictures below. My own dress design will have to be revealed after the wedding, I have to have some surprises for my groom……

If any brides out there are struggling to decide upon a style of dress and are looking for some direction – I’ll be on hand to help at The National Wedding Shows at the NEC and Olympia in Spring and will also be attending some Designer Days at bridal boutiques that we supply over the coming year – watch this space – we will keep you posted!

Amazing Wedding Venue!

For any brides out there still looking for the perfect wedding venue – I thought I would share my news….

As many of you know I’m getting married myself in December and have recently booked the best kept secret in the Midlands!  We have booked Stanbrook Abbey near Malvern for our winter wedding and it is just the most fabulous place to get married – I can’t wait!

The reason it was easy for us to book relatively late was because this venue has been undergoing restoration work for over the last year and has only recently opened as a wedding venue – I think that ours will be only the 3rd wedding there!  It was formerly a monastery and has now been restored to its former glory.  I would recommend it for anyone looking for a wedding venue in the Midlands area, it is a beautiful building (the Great Hall we are having the ceremony in is stunning – like a church) and the staff there are so helpful – definitely visit the website – Stanbrook Abbey and book to take a look around for yourselves!

I hope that lots of other brides find this gem and love it as much as we do……

We love the Abbey so much that we may book it for other events in the future for Ivory & Co. too – we may have a Designer Day for our wedding dresses and headpieces complete with catwalk shows – so watch this space – we will let you know!
